As we conquer our days, we emit good energy and bad energy into the world. We also receive energy in return. Our mind, body, and spirit are made up of energy, which vibrates externally and can be felt by those around us. It is those vibrations that resonate within us and affect our own energy stores.

We are also affected by the energy carried by others. We may feel calm, happy, and warm in the presence of some people, but anxious and upset in the presence of others. Good energy can boost our mood positively and increase our feelings of well-being. It can also help improve our communication and dissolve feelings of anxiety. On the other hand, bad energy results in negative feelings of discord, conflict, and resentment.

The goal? To release all that bad, negative energy so that you attract good, positive energy.

You cannot expect to attract good energy if you are giving off bad energy. Think about those close family members and friends around you. What kind of vibes do they get from you when they spend time with you? Are you angry and miserable? Or are you exuding happiness, peace, and a calm presence?

If people are naturally drawn to you and want to be in your presence, you are most likely doing a great job of emitting good energy. Tips to Let Go of Bad Energy

1. Let it out! Deal with repressed emotions.

Repressed emotions are those feelings you have tucked away internally and unconsciously avoid. It is different from suppressed emotions, which are those emotions that you purposely avoid because you may not be feeling strong enough to handle them or know how to process them.

A person can choose to suppress heartache while at work and rather try to deal with the emotions when they are home. Suppression is, however, only a short-term solution. Those emotions need to be dealt with at some point. Repressed emotions are not dealt with at all, and they do not disappear. Instead, they transfer into a range of physical and psychological symptoms and build up as bad energy.

Notice how all of these emotions are related to being negative? Negative energy and low vibrations not only affect your mental well-being but your physical well-being too. They can cause the following physical symptoms:

If you feel as though you can relate to the effects of repressed emotions, then start a journal and document your daily feelings. Make notes about how your body feels and how your mental approach was towards your day. Were you forgetful? Did someone upset you easily? Did you decline a social invitation because of anxiety?

Your journal will help you work through your emotions as you document them and note your triggers. Enforce positive messages for yourself in a virtual journey like Emote, and set emotional goals for yourself.

Once you recognize your emotional repression, you can start releasing it and all the bad energy associated with those emotions.

2. Forgive and Forget!

You have two options when someone hurts you; you can hold onto all of that anger and resentment and let it culminate into bad energy, or you can release the hurt and embrace forgiveness to move forward.

We understand it is easier said than done to forgive someone. But, forgiveness does not always mean that you need to excuse the harm done or becomes best friends with your offender. The hurt may always be with you, but forgiveness helps you lessen its grip and helps free you from the person who caused you harm.

Letting go of grudges and finding forgiveness is actually healthy for you. It helps you release all that pent up, bad energy and encourages good energy. Forgiveness can lead to the following:

Write down all of your grudges in your Emote journal. Now work through each one and release those grudges. It may not happen overnight, but as you forgive each grievance, you will open new doors for positive energy.


3. Break Bad Habits

Here is another one that may seem easier said than done, but breaking bad habits will help you release bad energy. 

Habits are born from repetition and eventually become ingrained into our systems and form part of our routine. You may not even realize that you are doing certain things because they are habitual acts.

But, here is the problem; not all habits are good! Some habits are bad, such as smoking, alcohol and drug addiction, stress-eating, nail-biting, etc.

It is true; old habits die hard. But, breaking bad habits is rewarding; you can release bad energy and make room for good energy.

Once you have begun releasing bad energy, you will attract good energy and live a more fulfilled and happier life.

  1. Meditate: Make meditation a regular part of your life to cleanse your mind and body from negative energy.

  3. Get out and into nature. Nature therapy helps you scrub away negative energy and create a positive “system reboot” for your mind and body.
  4. Move your body. Bad energy thrives on lethargy and inertia. Exercising and moving your body helps release all your “happy hormones” and activates your subtle energetic system, the place where negative impressions get stuck. In addition, exercising helps flush out bad toxins from your body since it increases your circulation and respiration.
  5. Stop complaining!
  6. Find the positive. As the Dalai Lama says: “See the positive side, the potential, and make an effort.” Change the tone of your thoughts from negative to positive.
  7. Remove negative influences from your life. Negative influences can be people, places, or things that negatively impact your life.
  8. Cultivate gratitude and appreciation.
  9. Smile more often.
